Weldon Thompson
Weldon Thompson has 6 years of experience as Athletic Trainer. He has been the Head Red Raider Athletic Trainer (all sports) for 5 years. Weldon is a graduate of Permian High School in Odessa, Texas. He has a Bachelor’s Degree and has attended Odessa College, Sul Ross State University, and UT Permian Basin. Weldon is C.P.R. certified and is licensed by the State of Texas. Weldon’s hobbies and activities are, “Rodeo, poker, and fishing.”

Mandy Jenkins
Mandy Jenkins is going into her 8th year of experience as Assistant Athletic Trainer. She is starting on her 3rd year at Robert E. Lee. Mandy is a graduate of White Oak High School in White Oak, Texas. She has received a Bachelor of Science from East Texas Baptist University and Master of Education from The University of Texas at Tyler. Her honors/achievements include: Division II 5A State Champions – Lufkin High School (2001), 4A Quarterfinalist – Kilgore High School (2003), and Division I 5A State Champions – Robert E. Lee (2004). Mandy’s higher education achievements include: National Athletic Association Certification and Texas Department of Health Licensed Athletic Trainer. Mandy’s hobbies and activities are, “Listening to music and hanging with family and friends. |
Robert Carlisle
Robert, a three-year returning student trainer, is the son of Michelle Rudak and Robert Carlisle and Ron Rudak and Tarie Carlisle. He has one brother, Conner (9) and one sister, Brittany (18). The most influential people in his life are Coach Thompson and his parents. His favorite memory as a trainer of the REL football team is winning State Championship. Taking care of football players is what Robert does best on the football field and ‘training’ (sports medicine) is what he considers to be his strength. Texas Longhorns is the college team he watches the most and his favorite mascot is the Longhorns. Robert is a student trainer for football and both boys and girls soccer. Being lazy is his best non-athletic talent. His academic/career goals are to go to college and be in the medical field. Having the ability to help people on and off the field is Robert’s goal in life and after graduation he plans to attend The University of Texas at Austin. His favorite subject is U.S. History and his interests/hobbies are playing video games and being a trainer. Being a trainer for the football team is Robert’s favorite part of Robert E. Lee. Three things that his friends say about him are, “You are full of energy, goofy, and a good friend.” His favorite coach is, Coach Huff because, “Watching him drink water is funny.” His favorite quote is, “Boy” and the number one memory he has about being a trainer for the REL football team is winning State. Watching Radar get run over by the referee in the last 2005 football game is his funniest trainer experience. Being a Red Raider trainer has taught Robert, “Self-dignity and respect.” Robert’s advice to younger trainers are, “Listen and learn something.” |
Heriberto (Herb) Pena
Herb, a three-year returning student trainer, is the son of Milagro Castron and Roberto Pena and Martin Marin. He has one brother, Jaycee Castro (15) and one sister, Iris Pena (13). The most influential people in his life are Coach Thompson and his Mom. His favorite memory as a trainer of the REL football team is when Radar got run over by the referee. Taking care of the team is what Herb does best on the football field and ‘taping’ is what he considers to be his strength. Texas Longhorns is the college team he watches the most and his favorite mascot is the Longhorns. Herb is Youth President at his church and he has been on the honor roll for 2 years (2004-2006). Playing video games is his best non-athletic talent. After graduation he plans to attend Liberty University and his goal in life is to someday become a trainer for an NFL team. Math is Herb’s favorite subject and making and having friends is his favorite part of Robert E. Lee. His most admirable athlete is Tekerrein Cuba because, “He works hard and a good team player.” Three things that his friends say about him are, “You are Happy, hard worker when you want to be, and a team player.” His favorite coach is, Coach Huff because, “The way he drinks water is really funny.” Herb’s favorite quote is, “Boy, tell you what.” The number one memory he has about being a trainer for the REL football team is the trip to Ohio. Being a Red Raider trainer has taught Herb, “Hard work pays off.” |
Haley Vincent
Haley, a three-year returning student trainer, is the daughter of Tammye and Lance Vincent. She has one brother, Josh, age 22. The most influential people in her life are her parents, coaches, and friends. Her favorite memory as a trainer of the REL football team is being in San Antonio with some of her favorite people and winning the State Championship. Taking care of the athletes is what Haley does best on the football field. The college team Haley watches the most is The Texas Longhorns. Haley is a trainer for football, girls basketball, and girls and soccer. She is a member of First Baptist Church and participates in Friendly Baptist Church Ensemble. She is in the top 10% of her class and her extracurricular activities include: Varsity Chorale, 2006-2007 Chorale President, and member of Good Vibrations, FCA, and National Honor Society.
